Don’t let the dream of luxury kitchens and bathrooms become a nightmare

Those householders dreaming of luxury kitchens or luxury bathrooms can find that the reality turns out to be a complete nightmare, unless they employ the services of an independent design consultant.

First of all, many ‘design services’, particularly those carried out on behalf of store chains, are often more interested in selling particular items of furniture or appliances than in finding out what the householder really needs from a bathroom or kitchen. This can lead to expensive alterations that are, at the end of the day, merely cosmetic in effect.

If the householder does try and undertake a more thorough appraisal of bathroom or kitchen requirements, this can often involve speaking to a whole host of tradesmen and obtaining a range of conflicting advice and vastly differing quotes. Again, a plumber, decorator or builder may not have the householder’s best interests at heart when advising what is or is not ‘possible’. Furthermore, if the work is in any way unique or non-standard, a tradesman may feel at liberty to charge an exorbitant price. Any unexpected difficulties encountered midway through a job will certainly incur additional costs.

The situation can be even worse if the job entails the need for planning permission. Some building companies will not even quote unless detailed plans and planning permission are already available. Yet the expense of asking a professional to draw up plans and of obtaining planning permission could be wasted if the building company subsequently advises a quote that appears unjustifiable to the householder. Finally, ensuring the various tradesmen work together in a coordinated, mutually supportive way becomes a burdensome responsibility for which few householders can spare the time or energy.

At Increation we take care of the complete design and installation of luxury kitchens and bathrooms at an all-in, pre-agreed price, and our first consultation is completely free and without obligation.

Kitchen Design Ideas For Small Kitchens

The need for small kitchen designs doesn’t necessarily mean that your small kitchen has to be a disappointment. These days everything is getting smaller-phones, home video discs, MP3 players. It doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Look at the smaller space available to you as an opportunity to flex your creative muscles. With small kitchens, creativity is definitely needed to get the most out of the available space, but at the same time, it can be more convenient and lead to you spending less time in the kitchen and more in the parts of the house where, perhaps, you’d rather be. In order to make your kitchen really stand out, here are six of the best ideas for maximizing space and efficiency:

Storage space. If you’ve got less room to move, then you need to be certain that you’re getting the most out of the kitchen’s capacity to hold appliances, pots, pans, flatware, and other items that belong there. Nothing is quite so frustrating as limited space for movement and storage. So it’s important, no matter what the final design you choose is, to include plenty of storage space for items that are not in use. To help with this function, you may wish to place an island in the center of the kitchen that is capable of both storage and use. Whether that means a place to chop onions, prepare meals for the oven, or even a spot to grill, the island can combine functionality leaving you with less requirements on space.

Galley up. The galley kitchen design is also a great tool in your toolbox of small kitchen design ideas. Lining up cabinets and appliances in hallway fashion can give you the ability to get a lot done in a limited amount of space, thus cutting back on time. This style highlights a key function that most small kitchen owners master early, and that is the “two birds with one stone” concept. If you can accomplish more than one task in a given location, make sure that you do so.

Compact appliances. Remember a little further at the top of this article when it was mentioned that being smaller doesn’t have to mean you’re lesser? Well, appliances are one of the best areas where this compact line of thinking has taken hold. Today’s manufacturers try to help you save space, because everyone knows that a kitchen aficionado likes comfort just as much as function.

Small tables, drop tables, and barstools. The concept of combining functions can extend to your kitchen dining area. By combining the two, you can give yourself a chance to spread out. Drop tables, small tables, and barstools can turn your kitchen from food laboratory to family center.

What’s New in Luxury Kitchens?

What’s New in Luxury Kitchens?

Luxury kitchens are the new must-have for newly built homes, and homes with these types of kitchens are at the top of the market in sales. People are starting to realize that the home isn’t really in the living room, entertainment room, or master bath, but in the kitchen. This is where so many families spend a majority of their time, so it seems logical to splurge on the kitchen while saving on some other, less well-used areas of the home. Here are some of the things you might find in luxury kitchens today.

Extra sinks and appliances are really popular as more families go back to slow food cooking at home. Sometimes kitchens include a small sink just for rinsing vegetables and fruits in purified water. Others come with stacked ovens that allow for preparation of multiple dishes at once, and still others offer extra-large stove tops with more than the traditional four burners. These things are all for the sake of convenience and allow for the cooking of larger meals in a more convenient manner.

Another addition for luxury kitchens today is high-quality countertops. Many people are opting for long-lasting granite, which looks sophisticated and will stand the test of time. Some prefer tile, although this is less durable and can be harder to keep clean. You can now find many kitchens with partial marble countertops, as this particular stone stays cool all the time and is excellent for bakers who need a cool place for kneading.

Speaking of bakers, many luxury kitchens today have separate areas just for baking. Large kitchens are being designed in stations, with a station for cooking, a station for baking, a station for washing, etc. This allows for more efficiency, and most stations come with a separate storage area for the materials – flour, cooking spray, salt, etc. – used in those particular areas. This means that you no longer have to dance back and forth across a huge kitchen every time you bake cookies!

Finally, many luxury kitchens are now coming with ambient lighting. This is more important than ever as more people are starting to dine in the kitchen rather than in a separate dining area. Work areas are flooded with bright light, while dining areas have dimmer switches. This allows you to set up different lighting for different situations, so that your kitchen becomes a place of atmosphere rather than a bland place to wolf down a meal.

Country Kitchen Design – Tips for Creating Unique Country Kitchens

Creating a country kitchen design means having a casual, friendly kitchen space with some antiques or reproductions where family and friends can gather to enjoy wonderful dinners and great conversation. No longer just a place to prepare meals, the kitchen may function as the most popular room in your home.

When creating a country kitchen design, you should feature natural materials and colors and have comfortable furnishings that are warm and welcoming. Country kitchen examples are to use open shelves, plate racks and cupboards for storage for items such as stoneware pots, glazed earthenware, baskets and glass jars. Your antique or reproduction plates and dinnerware collections can also be displayed on open shelving. Pots should be made of copper, cast iron or stainless steel without ornamentation.

Cabinets can be made with aged planked surfaces, natural materials with a rough or distressed finish and round or ceramic knobs that will add to the country style. Cabinets or furniture made of a painted, distressed or naturally-finished pine can be a beautiful key element in country kitchen design.

The materials and their colors used for the floor and countertop are important elements to have a country look. For the countertops, use ceramic tiles, hand-painted tiles, slate, stone or marble. If you decide to use laminate countertop materials, select plain colors for coverings. Terracotta tiles, brick, stone and wood are popular flooring materials in country kitchen floors.

Since most home buyers consider kitchen islands an essential part of a desirable kitchen, be sure to include one in your country kitchen design. The island in the kitchen reminds us of the farmhouse kitchen where the work table was used to do most of the food preparation work. If space is very limited, consider choosing a rolling butcher block that can be moved to the most convenient location as needed.

If there is space for kitchen furniture, consider using some antiques or reproductions in your kitchen. And the antiques do not have to be perfect. If chips and scratches exist, all the better since these imperfections only will add to the charm and unrestored look of the furniture. Having some wear and tear to maintain the country kitchen design flavor is fun and it works!

The country look is always rustic, old and warm and colors used in this style of home decor must be selected carefully. Neutral colors such as white or bone can work well as can earth tones, red barn, blues and greens. All are appropriate colors for country-style home decor.

Country home decorating frequently uses stenciling and wallpaper. Stenciling can be used around windows, in the areas where the walls and ceiling meet or even on the floors. Stenciling also can be used effectively on furniture to add charm to a country-style home decor.

To really create a great look, you can even add a fireplace to your kitchen for a charming country-style home decor look. You will find you have many to choose from including free-standing ventless fireplaces that can be simply positioned where you want.

Planning is an important part of country kitchen design before you actually do the work. Organize your ideas in a notebook as you accumulate them. Have fun as you go through books and magazines, visit local showrooms and search online for country kitchen examples and ideas that you like.

Well-designed unique country kitchens add value to homes. Even if you do not intend to sell your home anytime soon, having a country kitchen design that reflects your personal style means you will have a very special place to enjoy for many years to come.

European kitchens

The design of European kitchens have been in transition since the 1920’s from utilitarian to an all encompassing hub of the modern home. Along the way the American kitchen has also become a bit of a status symbol. The European kitchen seems to have evolved into more of a compact and utilitarian room. This is not to say that there are not some stunning kitchen designs coming out of Europe. On the contrary, many American manufacturers take their styling cues from what is going on over the pond and then adapt the design to fit the American market. One concept that I am quite interested in is the European version of the modular kitchen.

Innovation and design have always been the characteristic of the Italian kitchen cabinets .Italy is famous for its high-end design, and Europe generally offers engineering superiority under stringent guidelines. To achieve a kitchen that offers looks and operation of the highest standard, it makes sense to visit a cabinetry company boasting Italian roots and a dedicated Italian focus.

, because it is custom made to be functional for that household.

Kitchen designers often look at European kitchen cabinets for design inspiration for these spaces .European kitchens have been known for packing maximum function into minimal space since, a kitchen in Europe  is considered a personalized piece of furniture that a family will take with them when they move  so it’s no surprise that a new design concept from overseas is now beginning to gain attention in the U.S. thanks to its space-saving capabilities .

There are few European  kitchen cabinets manufacturers doing business in the North America today  To see these European  kitchens , you will probably have to travel to a major city where most of the showrooms are located.

The following is the list of manufacture with showroom in North America :

Aster Cucine

Scavolini

Snaidero

Boffi

Fiamberti

Dada

Valcucine

Cucine LUBE

Depending on the look, you’re going for, you can also add some embellishments to the existing doors were cabinetry.
